What is a Document Camera?
A document camera is an image capturing device that allows the user to take real-time images from an object and project them onto a large screen.
Ease of Use
Document cameras are fairly easy to use. They are a simple plug and play technology and can be connected directly to a computer or to a projector. Once set up, the object can be placed directly under the camera and the object is instantly seen on the connected device.
Versatility
Document cameras are considered to be very versatile. They can be used for a number of different objects, including 3D objects and paper. They can also be used in a variety of different places, like a classroom, courtroom, or an office.
Use in the Classroom
I think I would definitely use one in my classroom. I think it would make lessons easier to teach, since I could take a sheet of paper and write directly on it, then everyone in the class would be able to see it.
Connection
Document cameras can be tied to the PICRAT framework, specifically the Amplify and Transform portion of the framework as it pertains to teaching, it could also pertain to the Passive portion for students, since they are more passive learners with this technology.
