Class Dojo is a classroom tool that helps with classroom management, behavior tracking, and parent involvement. It connects teachers, parents, and students through point systems.

Ease of Use

Class Dojo is very user-friendly. Teachers can easily set up classes, manage points, and communicate with the parents. This blog post is about a tool from the T3PP results from our class.

What is iReady?

iReady is an online platform for reading and math for kindergarten through 12th grade that uses fun, interactive lessons. iReady adjust to student needs and helps identify areas of strength and weakness.

Ease of Use

iReady is easy to use and automatically adjusts to student needs. If a student answers a string of questions correctly, it automatically starts asking harder questions. Teachers are easily able to monitor student progress and check to see where students are struggling.

Versatility

iReady is a versatile platform. It automatically adjusts to student needs, allows for quick and easy progress monitoring, and can be used at school or from home. Some students, however, find the lessons to be long and boring. Teachers can also override the student path and assign different lessons if need be.

Use in the Classroom

I would love to use iReady in my own classroom, so long as it is covered by the school or district I am working in. I like the idea of questions becoming increasingly more challenging for students as they work through the lessons.

Connection

iReady is connected with the TLC T3: Instruction. It helps teach students math and reading using a fun platform.

Blog 6 Post: DreamBox

 https://www.dreambox.com/

This blog post is about a tool from our T3PP results from our class.

What is DreamBox?

DreamBox is an online learning program to help students with math. Like my previous post about Lexia, DreamBox automatically adjusts to student levels and helps with progress monitoring. DreamBox uses games to help student engagement and is aligned to math standards for kindergarten through 8th grade.

Ease of Use

DreamBox is typically easy to use. It allows for automatic adjustment as student needs change. Students can easily tap to start a lesson, with the early learners go through a story and older students can choose their own lessons. It is easy to use for teachers because they get student progress in real-time and see where a student needs more work.

Versatility

DreamBox is very versatile. It automatically adjust to student needs, can be used from kindergarten through 8th grade. Students can use DreamBox at school or at home, much like my previous technology, Lexia. DreamBox allows teachers to see student progress and struggles in real-time.

Use in the Classroom

DreamBox is something i would definitely consider using in my own classroom. It is interactive for students, I can get their progress in real-time, plus I can also see the areas in which the students are struggling. The only downfall is that DreamBox is a subscription-based online program, so if it is not covered by the district, I could also see myself not using the program.

Connection

DreamBox can be connected to the TLC T3: Instruction. It is a math-based instructional program that helps students by automatically adjusting to individual levels.

Blog Post 5: Lexia

https://www.lexialearning.com/

This blog entry is about a tool in Dr. Wang's PPT about previous T3PP results. Specifically Analyses, Findings, Discussions slide.

What is Lexia?

Lexia is a company that provides computer-based software for literacy. It can be used from kindergarten all the way through high school, although it is predominantly used in elementary schools. Lexia offers independent work and teacher-led lessons. It automatically adjusts to the student's needs and levels.

Ease of Use

Lexia is easy to use. For students, Lexia provides fun designs and colors to keep students engaged in the activities. Lexia also uses repetition and easy instruction for students. For teachers, Lexia provides easy monitoring of student progress as well as helps with planning future instruction by automatically placing students in groups and helping with lesson planning.

Versatility

Lexia can be versatile. It does offer different lesson plans and adapts to each child. It continually asses student progress and adjusts accordingly. It can also be used at school or at home. Lexia is, however, repetitive. There are instances where students get frustrated at the repetition, especially when they answer incorrectly and the instructions play again.

Use in the Classroom

I would definitely consider Lexia in my own classroom. I like the idea that I can see student progress and that it can also help me make lesson plans based on student need. Based just what I know on literacy, I want my students to have all the help they can get in this subject.

Connection

Lexia can be tied to TLC T3: Instruction. Lexia is a way to teach the students literacy. Students are learning as they are reading and playing games.

This blog entry is about a tool in Dr. Wang's PPT about previous T3PP results. Specifically Microsoft PowerPoint in the Technologies (Google vs. Microsoft) list.

What is Microsoft PowerPoint?

Microsoft PowerPoint is a presentation software which allows you to make different slides with animation, pictures, and themes. PowerPoint is great for teaching a subject, pitching an idea, and training. You can edit with others in real-time using OneDrive or SharePoint.

Ease of Use

Microsoft PowerPoint is organized in a way that makes it very user-friendly. You can add slides to your presentation with a click of a mouse. You can also easily move slides around in your presentation if you decide to change up the order of your slides.

Versatility

Microsoft PowerPoint is a great tool in many different settings. It can be used in the classroom for teaching a subject, in a boardroom for pitching an idea, and even for photo albums for a variety of settings.

Use in the Classroom

Microsoft PowerPoint is something I plan to use in my own classroom. It is interactive while also useful. I like how easy it is to use and how many different slide options there are.

Connection

Microsoft PowerPoint can be tied to TLC: T3 Instructing. Teachers can use PowerPoint to make a lesson for the students using different slides for different subject matter. It can be fun, since there are ways to do different slide changes, fonts, pictures, and different animations to keep students' attention. You can even make a small set of flashcards at the end to do a small test of student knowledge.

Blog Post 1: Google Docs

This blog entry is about a tool in Dr. Wang's PPT about previous T3PP results. Specifically Google Docs in the Technologies (Google vs. Microsoft list).

What is Google Docs?

Google Docs is a free online word processor by Google. It allows you to work together with others on the same document at the same time. Documents can be accessed from anywhere, as long internet you can connect to the internet.

Ease of Use

Google Docs is incredibly easy to use. As long as you are connected to the internet, you can create and edit new documents, there is no additional apps or downloads needed. Your changes are saved instantly to Google Drive.. You can edit documents in real-time with others, as well as comment and check the edits others have made.

Versatility

Google Docs is versatile because many people can be editing the same document at the same time, so groups can work together easily, without having to wait for everyone to edit their portion. This will take less time for the same amount of work to get done. Google Docs can also be helpful for people who are doing solo work, since it requires no additional apps or downloads.

In the Classroom

Google Docs is something I plan on using in my own classroom, provided the students able to understand how to use it. In elementary education, I am not sure my students will be needing this type of word processor. In the older grades, such as high school, I feel like this would be a very useful tool in the classroom.

Connection

Google Docs is connected to what we learned in the 7 Events of Instruction. It is connected to the 7th even, Assessing the Lesson Outcome. It can be used to write an essay on the subject matter from the lesson, either as a group or individually.
